Welcome!
Meet "The Meow Brothers"
LEARN ABOUT MY TWO RESCUE CATS WHO INSPIRED MY DEBUT CHILDREN'S BOOK, THE MEOW BROTHERS...FIND A HOME
It all began in 2011. I still so vividly remember my first encounter with a ginger tabby who would become my Chershire in late summer 2011. My parents and I spotted him down the street from our house one night, and being a huge animal lover, I wondered about him for the next few days. My intuition and passion for animals told me to do something—so I bought a few cans of cat food and put some outside hidden by a tree in my front yard. When I was walking home from school that same afternoon, I was happily surprised to find Chershire eating the cat food! He scattered away, but I knew he would be back. And from then on, he routinely visited me.
Around two months later in the fall, I watched Chershire eat his food like any normal day. A few moments after he walked away, a lanky grey tabby appeared and started eating out of the food bowl. I was completely shocked! He became Barnabas! I was worried and sad that there were now two homeless kitties needing some food and love. I so badly wanted to bring them inside the house, but I had a Brittany Spaniel named Cassie who was very jealous of them and had health issues. So the cats stuck around…surviving all of the weather elements, greeting me every day, transforming from being very skittish to very friendly, and getting along better with each other. After Cassie unfortunately passed away, I made it my mission to get the cats to the veterinarian and bring them inside. I no longer had to worry about all the “what ifs” of them being strays outside, which was the best part. Both of my boys adapted amazingly and became the absolute most affectionate little felines. They have greatly enhanced my life and are responsible for so much of my happiness and joy. Whoever abandoned these amazing cats truly missed out, but I am so incredibly lucky to have found them!!
We shortly started calling them
"The Meow Brothers" once they were safe inside. And now they have inspired my characters of Chester (modeled after Chershire) and Barnaby (modeled after Barnabas) for all children, parents, animal lovers, (or anyone that wants to read a story with a positive ending) to enjoy!

This book is truly a dream come true for me and very close to my heart! My cats were destined to be in a book! I thought of the idea in 2019, and devoted my time during the pandemic to getting it completed and published. I established my own publishing entity called Violet Vie Press in 2021.
Thank you for allowing me to share my story!
BOOK SYNOPSIS ~
When a cuddly cat named Chester is left out on the streets after his owners move away, he must search for food and shelter all on his own. Luckily, an animal-loving girl named Madison finds the sweet boy and quickly makes it her mission to care for him every day. It isn't long until a clever cat named Barnaby appears! Now the kitties must learn to get along with each other! As they face a chilling snowstorm on the way, will Madison be able to rescue the duo, take them to the veterinarian, AND bring them inside her warm home?
This heartwarming tale is based on Bruno's true experience of rescuing the abandoned cats who become the real "Meow Brothers". The beauty of the human-animal bond is celebrated in this compassionate story. And it reminds children of the value of second chances and to believe that things can always change for the better.
My Bio
ANIMAL ADMIRER ~ AILUROPHILE (CAT LOVER) ~ AUTHOR
I once heard the quote, "The road to my heart is paved in paw prints" which accurately defines my life. I am a lifelong animal lover with a Bachelor’s degree in Small Animal Science and a Certification in Equine Massage Therapy. I currently work as a STEM Laboratory Technician at a higher education institution by day and an author at night. I've previously worked in the animal field. In addition, I am a pet sitter and Realtor in my community. My continuous passion for animals grew even stronger upon finding two abandoned cats in my neighborhood in 2011. Rescuing this special pair has inspired my first children’s book! I fondly recall how others loved hearing about their rescue story, and I really enjoyed sharing it.
